Payment links

Easily create a fully functional payment page in just a few seconds and share the link with your customers—no code necessary.

OpenPay supports all popular payment methods, including credit/debit cards, Apple/Google pay, ACH, and crypto. You can use payment links to accept payments and securely capture payment information.

This is useful for when you are trying to generate ad-hoc checkout pages for customers.

In the admin console, you can navigate to the payment links tab and click [+ Create payment link] on the top right to open the workflow.

Once a customer has submitted the checkout form, this will automatically sync into our system and you will see the customer in your OpenPay admin console with the subscription or one-time price that they purchased (under subscriptions and payments).

This is useful for when you are trying to capture payment method details from your customer.

In the admin console, you can navigate to the payment links tab and click [🔗 Update payment method] to generate a payment details link.

Once a customer has submitted the payment details form, this will automatically sync into our system and you will see the customer in your OpenPay admin console with their newly attached payment method.

  • We can customize these payment link pages to align with your brand identity (i.e., add logos and change button colors).

    • To set up a custom domain (ex: https://pay.yourwebsite.com/), you will need to add a CNAMEthat points https://pay.yourwebsite.com to https://cde.getopenpay.com

  • All of your enabled payment options (ex: credit card/apple pay/ACH/crypto/etc.) will be shown.

  • If a customer already has an existing record, and they submit new payment details, their submitted details will be added as an additional payment method to their existing profile.

  • If a customer does not have an existing record, their submitted details will create a new customer profile in your admin console.

  • This is the type of link that your customers are sent in OpenPay's dunning emails to capture updated payment methods for recovering failed payments.

Test transactions for multiple payment processorsCopied!

We highly recommend running a test transaction with each new processor that you add.

Let’s say you have three processors - Airwallex, Loop, and Stripe:

The processor that is set to Default will always be where payments are routed to first. So if you wanted to test Stripe specifically, you would set that processor as your default, and then buy something via a checkout link:

Once you’ve checked out, you can click into the details page of that payment (from here), and see if it went through the processor that you expect:

In some cases, you might notice a payment fails with one processor but goes through with a different one. This cascading behavior is part of how OpenPay ensures you have the highest possible payment acceptance rate.
